Clap For Broken Glass
Every glass has a life span.
Last night my friend, Robbie Law, had a solo show with him and his guitar. This was in Park City at a bar.
Near the end of the show we heard some glasses break in between a set somewhere behind the bar.
We all clapped at the glasses breaking and then I made up a reason as to why we do this. It is the sacred and ceremonious gesture to celebrate the life of a glass.
Glasses are meant to break. It’s their time when it happens. It isn’t the fault of the waiter or waitress. If one breaks at home, it’s not your kids fault or your fault.
Glasses that break most likely want to break and we need to be ok with their passing. Next time you hear a glass break, clap and even hoot and holler. It was a life well lived.
