Energy Workers

I want to talk about energy work.

My daughter, Jane, was trying to astral project, which is a term I didn’t even know about a year ago. Apparently, you can travel through space and time inside your mind with the right meditation. Well, she tried this on her own about six months ago, and it turns out ever since then, she has had a dissociation or derealization.

So I talked with Phi and with my cousin who does Reiki, to see what I could do for Jane.

I think that energy work, like Reiki, is super valuable in the process of diagnosing and healing from any mental or physical problems. I used to be very skeptical of anything other than professionals with all the schooling, the ones with three letters behind their name.

I continue to completely respect medical professionals. In fact, just yesterday, I met on the phone a man named Dr. Scott Noorda, who has an amazing story of why he is helping with Alzheimer's prevention.

But I feel that for the first time in my life, I gain something from any practice that has my well-being in mind. This can be tarot cards, star charts about the time I was born, or ceremonies that Native Americans used with mescaline. I basically feel that any healing practice has positive effects because of the placebo effect and good energy.

Placebo means your body and brain believe that if something works, it works…so I see no benefit whatsoever in doubting any form of healing.

In Mormonism, we would practice healing by putting oil on heads and giving blessings. The principle here was that the faith of the blesser and the blessed would yield results. Many times, it does heal and yield results. The issue with this practice is that only men were capable of giving blessings with sacred oil.

So, last night was very special when my beloved female cousin was able to use her hands, her love, and a practice called Reiki with my daughter, Jane. It was special seeing family work on each other with the gifts each has.

There are so many ways to practice medicine. I don’t like to call any of them bad or good, just useful and less useful. Some can be harmful, but I haven’t encountered harmful healing practices in all my years, but I know they exist. Cheers to everyone practicing medicine of any kind and helping humankind heal.

A beautiful, thin blonde woman in a serene and peaceful room filled with soft, natural light. She is standing and gracefully extending her hands towards a seated teenage girl with brown hair, who appears relaxed and at peace. The room is tastefully decorated with subtle, calming colors and elements of nature, such as plants and soft, flowing fabrics. The atmosphere is tranquil, embodying a healing and meditative space. Both individuals are dressed in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that suggest a casual, spiritual setting.
