Eternity

It was September 2001 when I fell in love with Robbie Williams. I was in a small apartment in Genova, Italy living out the last months of my Mormon mission while the world was melting around me.

That July a man was killed by the Italian police during the G8 Summit riots, right below my window in our apartment. Then September comes and I’m about to turn 21 when I get a call from a friend saying; “Torri Gemelle sono caduti!!!” The Twin Towers Fell!

I spent the rest of that month mostly inside, orders from our boss. The Muslim community in Genova didn’t like how quickly we started dropping bombs at Afghanistan and the wasn’t safe for Americans like us with badges on our shirt.

I took up listening to Robbie Williams and dreaming of a more peaceful future, where I would not be a missionary and instead chilling with a girl. This song takes me to the very weather and sunlight and smell of this traumatic time of my life. I can listen to it today and only feel peace and not the fears of the unknown from that September.

I never understood how Robbie Williams was such a hit artist in Europe but widely unknown in the USA. If you want a whole album that will boost your mood try “Swing When You’re Winning”

Happy 4:20 and let’s go be humans! I’m at graduation of my senior right now! She did it, even with all the “disabilities” of dyslexia and ADHD. Damn what a journey. I did find my dream girl I had in my mind when listening to “Eternity”. We did a family and it’s a beautiful one.
