Life With Scott
By Derek Wride
Creating Life With Scott (with my now best friend) was easily the biggest change in mindset I’ve ever undergone. Up to that point I had been building my career in the film industry and had set my sights on writing and directing Hollywood blockbusters. Filmmaking was a brutal career, and in my opinion closely echoed a starving artist lifestyle. There was a lot of pressure at the time for me to find something a little more predictable, and something that could help my worries subside some.
Ironically, after asking some of my network if they knew of any opportunities, a close friend sent me a really odd LinkedIn post that read;
I am seeking an apprentice that can start in May. This is a paid Opportunity and experiment. Job description in order of importance.
Must be able to shoot and edit video. There will be a lot of this.
Help me edit and send daily Linkedin post and new #scottposts SMS broadcast.
Organize my Host of Angels email and select angel deals to share.
Must only use SMS, email, and Volley to communicate, no zoom or slack.
Enjoy meeting 5 or more entrepreneurs a day a not share all of the secrets you hear.
Cannot take offense to my more interesting friends like Jordan Harbertson or Heather Kahlert.
Drive Black Pearl (TeslaX) so I can work while commuting VS putting my life at risk by testing limits of auto pilot
Help me around the ranch feeding sheep and doing some fences and pond maintence.
Help schedule and guide guests at the ranch with fishing, biking, boating, and snowmobiles
Prefer if you are fit enough to login in as me on Peloton and Strava to set some records in my name.
I pretty much need you to be willing to do everything if asked.
I will pay you $2,000 every week in the form of Pancakeswap token to your crypto wallet of choice.
To apply, one must merely share their accolades in the comments below.
This is a social experiment, but it is not a joke.
You can find out how this “social experiment” started here.
I think it takes a person with an insane amount of ADHD to find Scott’s post alluring, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
I knew it was what I was supposed to do.
I begged him for a job and was quite literally baptized by Crypto Jesus himself. I got paid religiously every Friday from Scotts Metamask wallet. Sometimes it would come early in the morning, sometimes it would come late in the afternoon, but it would ALWAYS come as some random shitcoin that was absolutely impossible to convert to U$D without losing a fraction of it to gas, or the eternally volatile crypto market.
I was fucking hooked.
If you hung around Scott in 2021 it was all constantly crypto talk, and if you couldn’t tell us about it, we were gonna tell you about it. Everything crypto was on a rise and there was no stopping it. I would make it out to Scotts just about everyday around 9 in the morning and we would film all day long. I filmed everything I possibly could. (Still sitting on this goldmine of footage.) It was one of the best years of my life, and Scott pushed me harder than anyone else.
For Scott everything was a test, or an experiment. It drove people crazy. I would hear people talk about how chaotic and disorganized he was, and they’re not wrong, but that's the point. I got the most intimate view of Scott’s genius and took note of it all.
Scott drives people to be who their supposed to be. He’s a master at it.
If you want a safe, stable, predictable life, please unsubscribe, unfriend, and avoid Scott at all costs.
If you want to catch lightning, change people, and live with abundance on your mind, then you are in the right place.
Scott is about making impactful change one person at a time, and he did that for me.
If we fast forward, I found myself at the end of my first year getting paid entirely in crypto terrified of taxes. I consulted with every Degen, and CPA I knew and asked how they went about reporting.
I received a bunch of blank stares, and bad advice.
When I asked Scott he turned me to TaxBit. The results I received were a Captial Gain of more than 3X what Scott had even paid me in 2021. I tried 3 other Crypto Tax Softwares, and the results made me wanna cry. Not only were the numbers wrong, the systems calculated tax on transactions that fundamentally shouldn’t have been taxable.
This kicked off my new journey. I was no longer Scotts filmmaker. Now I was on a mission to make sure that the crypto ecosystem I believed in didn’t die by the hand of undereducated developers and the fucking IRS.
So I started manually, with MoonTax. Over the last three years I’ve manually reconciled crypto data for some incredible people. I was slow to realize that crypto users didn’t have a Tax issue on theirs hands, they had a data problem. Generally, platform labels were inaccurate, leading to millions of dollars in discrepancies. The MoonTax team fixed them, one at a time. In manual reconciliation services we saved 700 clients over $50m in miscalculated filing numbers.
But manual work has its limits. I needed to scale this and automate the work with precision.
I’m grateful for all of my AI mentors, but will mention one in particular. Jepson Taylor unlocked a lot of mystery surrounding the topic. I have been sharing this idea with him for years, and at last he helped me unlock it.
He is working on an amazing project called VEOX, and our software BEAM be an early adopter. Jepson showed me how I can take my knowledge as a domain expert and create a plethora of Machine Learning models at the click of a button.
Beam: AI-Powered Crypto Tax Solution
I’m grateful to be building.
Let me know if any of you crazy followers have a similar crypto tax problem. I’d love to talk.
